I can't believe that how can a person turned into such a jerk. I mean right, it's your opinion and I respect them, but please, and please, be nice and not in such a blatant way. Although I seem nice and optimistic, happy and carefree, you will never know what really is in my mind. This may seem hypocritical but trust me, this is nothing but truth. Speaking of such, you said that I will not survive in the future due to my bluntness and disrespectful attitude towards others. Truth to be told, I was only trying to be friendly and nice, in a much cordial way. Is that wrong? I mean what's wrong what that? What's your problem with that?
I know that I am an Asian and thus should be behaving like one. But what if I was exposed to the Western cultures and lifestyle since my childhood? You can't expect me to behave like a typical Asian in such a manner that I must talk to teachers in a servile tone and so on. I have my spine and I don't buy the idea of fawning either. I mean why should I? I've done nothing wrong BUT had spoken the truth in a spontaneous manner. What's wrong with that?
Frankly, I hate the way of how Asians emphasize on manner and so on, that children or youngster should have the expected respect towards their teachers and elders.
Let me get this straight, RESPECT IS SOMETHING YOU EARN, NOT SOMETHING YOU
GAIN.
Being orthodox is nothing but plain farcical. If you were to blend well in the society in the future, SOCIAL is the key, not being servile. And as I've said about the respect thing, use that. Even if I want a job, I will only RESPECT him if he possess the quality of deserving one. And if he'd humiliated me, I shall show no respect  and consider using profanity if it's necessary. I mean why?
Why should I gulp down the entire humiliation and be totally oblivious about it? I have the right to retort and you have no right to stop me from doing so.
Send me to a psychologist if you think I need one.
It's very nice to be friendly, but the problem is, you're overdoing it. When people are obviously not in the mood of talking, stop trying to have a conversation with them. If you bent on talking, you're not friendly anymore. You're annoying.
ReplyDeleteExpose to Western culture do not give you the right to be rude. Simple manners, if ignored, is fine. But calling offensive words like 'banana' to SL?? It's very offensive. Like calling the Blacks nigger. You don't know how serious it is, you do not know how offensive a word can be. This is your problem. And talking loudly in the office to GCL like today? That's rude. She's not your friend, she's a teacher. At least give her some respect.
And I've been nice for the past four months. I've suppressed my anger and I can't suppress them anymore. That's why it's blatant. And by the way, next time, try to be a little considerate. When people are angry, stop trying to be happy or funny. And I'm not talking about me.
ReplyDeleteRegarding that, I was only trying to be as an emollient. That you are the the one who can't accept the fact that teachers are not human? That they can't HAVE A CONVERSATION with their students? I mean what is this? Teachers aren't human too? And regarding that banana, it's not equivalent to something as offensive as "nigge*".
ReplyDeleteAnd can you see a westerner TALKING TO THEIR TEACHERS FORMALLY? Why can't you be SPONTANEOUS AND LET THE WORDS DO THE JOB? That you are the one who think that teachers should be respected in such an "emperor" manner. They don't bite. I've done nothing wrong, why should I be such an arse-licker? You tell me.
ReplyDeleteAnd please don't expect me to be totally oblivious to your tirade. If you expect me to stay quite and be totally oblivious about it, sorry, you picked the wrong guy.
ReplyDeleteLet he who is without sin cast the first stone.
ReplyDeleteTeachers can have conversations with students, but they deserve some respect. How do you know 'banana' is not as offensive as 'nigger'? I live with an English-educated guy for 17 years, I think I know about that more than you do. Your mother speaks a little chinese, my father doesn't at all.
ReplyDeleteWhen did I ask you to treat teacher like an emperor? I said they deserve some respect, I did not say you have to salute them or talk to them in an exceptionally formal tone or no banters at all. Don't twist or misinterprate what I said.
ReplyDeleteAnd besides criticising you, my another motive is to provoke you to feel angry. Because you never feel anger, you don't know how angry feels, and when people are angry, you keep on having fun with yourself or others. You don't know when a person is angry, they will channel their anger to violence. So if you're angry, that means I've succeeded. But I highly doubt it has, you're too stubborn to be angry.
ReplyDeleteMy friend does not speak Mandarin and is completely oblivious to the Chinese world. I called her banana and she didn't even say a thing. Let alone your father. It's just your perception. That you think it's offensive but I think it's not. If I want to say it, let me be. It's really none of your business. Don't like it? Stuff earbuds into your ear canals. Nobody will be stoping you.
ReplyDeleteAnd for teacher, I gave them my respect. If I weren't, I'd be using profanity. You are totally being ridiculous.
And of course, banana isn't as offensive as nigger. Go ask them. You'll be shocked. I know them better than you do.
Hah I never get angry. I only get resentful.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen any of us speak to teachers formally. we banter we them, we chat with them, and sometimes we even ask about their personal lives. you? you rudely talk about things, rudely ask about their personally lives, rudely tell teacher to do something. you thing i'm wrong? ask any teachers if they're offended by what you say, and i guarantee you they're offended.
ReplyDeleteAsk ahead.
ReplyDeleteyounger generations are not as easily offended as adults. You obviously do not know adults enough to understand this kind of things. and the fact that you never get angry IS YOUR BIGGEST PROBLEM. you thought everyone else is like you, never get angry. the fact that you can't get angry doesn't mean everybody else can't get angry. so next time, try to understand people's emotion because trying to make a conversation with them.
ReplyDeleteAnd you proclaim that I am not mature. I mean who are you? You've only seen me in school and yet you make this kind of feeble judgement. I am not convinced.
ReplyDeletePeople are different. Some people are easily offended, some people don't care. Some people care about money, some don't. Some people care about their studies, some don't. Some people likes to talk, some don't. People do not share the same personalities. The fact that they will not offended does not mean you can be rude.
ReplyDeleteAnd why CSB was never offended by me? You tell me.
ReplyDeleteCalling me rude is ridiculous. Go and study social science for the God's sake.
ReplyDeleteWhen did I say you're not mature?
ReplyDeleteYou always do.
ReplyDeleteironically, every people i've talked to think you're rude. even gmt said you're rude. and yet you're still denying? You're really hopeless. Maybe you'll learn your lesson when one day someone punches you square in your face.
ReplyDeletemaybe you're mature. you just don't think about the consequences before you speak.
ReplyDeleteBecause this is a Chinese school. I believe upholding those chinese virtues are important only in this school. If I'd gone to some english-based school, I believe I won't be facing THIS kind of problem. Ask your banana friends.
ReplyDeletethis is not about virtues. this is simple manners. you don't talk to your mother the way you talk to your brother. that's the way it works. you simply have to give a little respect to those who are older than you. and this is not about school or english or chinese school. this is simple manners. and i do not have english-educated friends.
ReplyDeleteRESPECT IS SOMETHING YOU EARN, NOT SOMETHING YOU
ReplyDeleteGAIN.
Why don't you go to MBS, Free School, CLHS and have a great great great and great look.
ReplyDeletewhat have you been brainwashed? That means a person earns a respect if what he does is good like helping others. A person does not earn a respect if he kills a person. The idiom simply means what you do will show whether you deserve respect or not. What have them done that do not deserve respect?
ReplyDeletei would suggest you to go to JD, or berapit to have a look. people now are not as disciplined as you think they are. if they're offended, even by simple mistake like mistook their pencil, they'll hit you without any warning. This is the reality you've to accept even if you despise. Many people are easily offended.
ReplyDeleteRemember last year? when pn yeoh wanted to cut your hair, and you had the temerity to say chung ling teachers cut the hair nicely for students? That's rude. Another example.
ReplyDeleteFalse. It's a quote.
ReplyDeleteAnd, if I were a gangster, and you killed a person. I'll have my respect for you. Respect is something you earn.
If a teacher came and scolded my blatantly, I believe retorting him in a manner that is as rude as him ISN'T RUDE. This is what he deserved. Even though he's an adult but if you do not respect me, why should I? You will be talking my respect for you for granted.
Well of course. At least I have the audacity to say so.
ReplyDeleteWhether it's a quote or an idiom doesn't matter. The way you behave is what causes social problem. when a person confronts another person and one party is offended, they argued and hence, a fight broke out. Talking rudely back to a person does not resolve any issue. How does it resolve anything? You tell me.
ReplyDeleteThats no rude. That's fact. Freedom of speech.
ReplyDeleteLet role play. When you talk to a person, and he suddenly talks to you rudely for no reason. How do you feel?
ReplyDeleteFreedom of speech needs self-limit. Go and criticise a government rudely and you're under ISA. This is a fact you've got to learn.
ReplyDeleteEven if it's freedom of speech, if it brings harm to you, why do you want to take the risk? You think being whacked is fun?
ReplyDeleteThe person you are saying have no control on their temper and so. I know the boundary. And that kind of people are indeed, causing social problem. They have no remorse of their doing and think that they are right because they have no religion. I believe religion is the very best tool to curb on the evil deeds of human. I agree with you on your last point but I disagree on the point where you pointed out the "fact" that I was being rude and so on. I was nothing being rude. I believe you can't speak as well as I do. Being coy is a part of you, but not mine.
ReplyDeleteProve to me you're not rude, despite the fact everybody says you're rude. And don't bring in religion. I'm not religious and I'm not causing social problems.
ReplyDeleteI don't speak rudely to stranger. And ISA is only in Malaysia and this has nothing to do with bluntness. Being whacked certainly isn't fun, but expressing opinion is far more fun that being whacked.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I can't speak as well as you do. But at least I have self-respect. Being rude drops your dignity. You think you're famous because you're friendly? No.
ReplyDeleteRude. What you think it's rude is not to me. So that is in my opinion. You can't change the way people think. If you are not happy with it, just ignore it. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
ReplyDeleteWe are in Malaysia, so ISA is part of our lives. And it has something to do with bluntness. And even if you do not talk rudely to strangers, your friends will get offended by what you say if you don't watch your tongue.
ReplyDelete" You think you're famous because you're friendly? No." No. I don't think I am famous. I am certainly more friendly than you. If I have no self-respect, I would have low self-esteem.
ReplyDeleteI can't ignore it. Because I'm your friend and if I let you behave this way, one day you'll be whacked. Both my parents are teachers. I know how the students now like and I know how their parents act. They are exceedingly easily offended and they do use violence to threaten people very often. You are not exposed to this kind of things, you do not know how creepy the society has become.
ReplyDeleteYou're more friendly than me, I can't deny that. But the problem is, your friendliness sometimes bother people. And you do not know how famous you're? That's your ignorance.
ReplyDeleteFreedom of speech. If you don't like it, others might like it. It's your personal problem and your perception. What I said might be normal to somebody but harsh to somebody like you. Like I said, you have your opinion and I have no right to judge your opinion. You can say Christian sucks and I have no right to say anything. I might be angry but this is your opinion. You are free to have your opinion.
ReplyDeleteI know we are friend and that you're trying to help me. I'll take your advice because I don't want to continue this ugly feud between us in which we can actually build a mature and perfect friendship. I understand your good intention and that you are trying to put this is a good way but not some ugly scolding.
ReplyDeleteAgain, don't bring in religion.
ReplyDeleteFreedom of speech. Yes, you do have the right to speak out, but you need self-limit. You can't be rude. If people criticise your mistake, you cannot speak back rudely and you should considerate whether what he says is right or wrong. This is not about freedom of speech, this is about manners.
The problem is your stubbornness. You keep on insisting respect is something you earn. you've misinterprated the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course you are a good person who is trying to help others in which I cannot deny. But you must understand, everybody has got his opinion. You can't change their opinion but you can ignore it. And you have the right to retort it and so on.
ReplyDeleteYours is not an opinion. Yours is rude which everybody has agreed. People say you're rude for reasons, they don't say you're rude for nothing. This is a kind advice for you to change your personality because people hate your rudeness. We, I have to say, speak behind your back often and criticise how rude you are. You're rude and you're in denial. You can deny all you want. But the fact is, you're rude. This is not an opinion. This is a fact everybody has agreed, both students and teachers, and you're denying because you're ignorant.
ReplyDeleteWell respect is definitely something you earn. You can't expect me to give you my respect for you for no reason. You must posses the quality of deserving a respect.
ReplyDeleteSo a mugger, 24 came to you and gave you a piece of mind. Would you scold him? Yes. Because he's a mugger.
When a headmaster, 26, came to you and scold you for no reason, would you scold him? No. Why? Because you're afraid of him.
So in this case, the headmaster have already earn himself a respect whereas the mugger had failed to earn himself one.
I'm the only person who has the gut to say it out, because most people think you're hopeless. I know you're hopeless, because this is not our first argument, but I've to speak out.
ReplyDeleteWho has scolded for no reason? And what have most teachers done that do not deserve respect?
ReplyDelete"We, I have to say, speak behind your back often and criticise how rude you are." Thats what you call rude. Very rude. You might think it's not, but I think it's rude. Rude.
ReplyDeleteTeachers too do not deserve their respect if they don't respect you.
ReplyDeleteWe speak behind your back because we do not want to offend you. If we speak right in front of you saying you're rude, how will you react? Look at what you're written here. I say you're rude and you keep saying you're not. What's the point of saying you're rude in front of you.
ReplyDeleteWhen you've violated school rules, they have the rights to reprimand you. And you do not respect other people's privacy - another proof you're rude. You tell CAL about GCL things, then you tell CAL personal things to GMT. Remember? How's that not rude?
ReplyDeleteYou are denying that fact that you were being rude.
ReplyDeleteSharing is not rude, it's generous. A virtue.
ReplyDeletePersonal? Like using feminine wash? Thats personal.
ReplyDeleteDare you say you never speak about someone behind their back? Dare you say that? Maybe it's rude, but it's because we do not want to offend you. I don't see it as rude. It's sort of like white lies.
ReplyDeleteIf they talk to me nicely I'll show them billion and zillion of respects.
ReplyDeletesome things are not for you to share. People do not like other people to talk about their personal lives.
ReplyDeleteThere is no use of trying to be smart is putting your words. Rude is always rude. Rude.
ReplyDeleteMost people talk to you nicely. I talk to you nicely sometimes and yet I'm offended. Why? Because you're rude, and you don't know you're rude. That's the fact you have to know about yourself. You're unconsciously being rude often.
ReplyDeleteWell, if that's the case. You're rude too.
ReplyDeletein*.
ReplyDeleteThen why don't you tell me. I will not tell others if you told me not to.
Tell you what?
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you give me an example of me, giving you a rude rejoinder when you spoke to me nicely?
ReplyDeletesome things are not for you to share. People do not like other people to talk about their personal lives. replied with
ReplyDeleteThen why don't you tell me. I will not tell others if you told me not to.
Sometimes what you say is not rude, but your tone is. You're rude in various ways and I can't point out all.
ReplyDeleteTell me when I am being rude.
ReplyDeleteTell you what? What you should say and what you shouldn't?
ReplyDeleteTalking about a person's personal lives to others is itself rude. The act is rude, not your tone or words.
ReplyDeleteNo. When I talk to you in your so-called-rude-way-of-talking-when-I-wasn't-being-rude-but-in-your-opinion-it-is-and-it's-always-rude.
ReplyDelete"Talking about a person's personal lives to others is itself rude." and why is this rude.
ReplyDeleteWhich part of me saying 'everybody has agreed you're rude' don't you understand? And it's not an opinion, it's a fact you do not know.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's the fact that you and others do not know that what you consider rude is actually not rude.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's an opinion.
ReplyDeleteMinhuang, as a friend I've to give you this kind advice. Everybody thinks you're rude, and it's very, very obvious you're rude. You always make people angry because you have no self-control. You always try to be funny even though people are angry. You are always rude in talking, let it be the words you use or the tone you use.
ReplyDeleteYou can deny all you want, and I don't expect you to accept it because you're too stubborn to accept it. People don't say you're rude for no reason. Think about that.
I think you're behaving this way because you never shoulder a responsibility. You never do something which involves hardwork and co-operation among teammates, that's why you always offend people. You never co-operate with other people, therefore you've never seen a serious side of a person. When a person is serious in doing things, they do not like your behaviour. You say you're socialising? But you've never co-operate with someone to do anything. Socialising needs empathy, which you obviously don't.
Opinion is what people think. Facts are things that are morally true and supported by evidence. That's a difference.
ReplyDeleteDeny all the way you want. Your stubbornnes and your rudeness will cause you trouble one day. And for you, tasting the pain is the only way you can learn. I'm done giving you kind advice. You do not appreciate at all. People who appreciate kind advice consider what people say, you don't, you're only trying to deny.
Again, people do not say you're rude for no reason. You're grown up this way. It's in your genes. I don't expect you to change. But watch out, one day, due to your own rudeness, troubles will fall on you.
It's your opinion and I think they're wrong. Serious? I can be serious as I want to but I chose not to. Socialising- to meet and spend time with people in a friendly way, in order to enjoy yourself. To enjoy myself. I enjoyed it and therefore I am socialising.
ReplyDeleteRudeness is subjective hence it is based purely on the perceptions of people.
ReplyDelete
